Always On My Mind
03:52
|
|||
The warm autumn sun shines over golden leaves
As we walk through your sleepy hometown
The wind throws your hair around your face as you laugh
Summer’s got nothin’ on you and me right now
And as the leaves blow around you and me, I know this is how it’s meant to be
‘Cause the only thing that’s on my mind is if I should take your hand in mine
I don’t know what this could be, but you make me wanna find out
You’re always on my mind
You’re always on my mind
‘Cause when you’re not here with me, you’re all I think about - whoa!
You’re always on my mind
You’re always on my mind
I always wish we had more time
‘Cause you’re always on my mind
We walk through quiet streets as the sun begins to set
And shadows start to grow along the road
It gets a little colder so I put my arms around you
And now I never want to let you go
And I wish that I’d known how to drive ‘cause then I could’ve stayed with you all night
But I have to catch a bus downtown and it hurts ‘cause I don’t wanna leave you now
I don’t know what this could be, but you make me wanna find out
You’re always on my mind
You’re always on my mind
‘Cause when you’re not here with me, you’re all I think about - whoa!
You’re always on my mind
You’re always on my mind
I always wish we had more time
‘Cause you’re always on my mind
We get back to your door as the daylight slips away
And the sunset lights us up a fiery red
I’m so nervous I can’t think but you hold me close and kiss my cheek
And bring your lips up to my ear and you said
I don’t know what this could be, but you make me wanna find out
You’re always on my mind
You’re always on my mind
‘Cause when you’re not here with me, you’re all I think about - whoa!
You’re always on my mind
You’re always on my mind
I always wish we had more time
‘Cause you’re always on my mind
I don’t know what this could be, whoa!
But there’s something between you and me, whoa!
Yeah you make me wanna find out, whoa!
‘Cause you’re all I think about, whoa!
And I wish we had more time, whoa!
‘Cause you’re always on my mind
That autumn walk in your hometown
Well summer’s got nothin’ on us right now

This is a call, an announcement, an obituary
For anyone who tries to tie our hands behind our backs
Y’must not have seen the wreckage strewn behind us from others who tried the same
‘Cause when the pressure’s on, the heat is up, we’re not ones to
Crack like glass or shatter like porcelain, like so many of those who stood in our way
But we’re just as sharp as those broken pieces
Try your best to do your worst, but
We were born for the times when things get rough
Yeah we can take you down; we can chew you up
So let us know when you’ve had enough
Y’might think you’re spitting bullets with all the words that you fire our way
But you make no sense; all we hear is [ba-ba ba-da- da-da ba-ba!]
Your condescension, your constant condemnation
Well, it don’t mean a thing to us; we’re weary of the tyranny
Try your best to do your worst, but
We were born for times when things get rough
Yeah we can take you down; we can chew you up
So let us know when you’ve had enough
Try your best to do your worst, but
We were born for times when things get rough
Yeah we can take you down; we can chew you up
So let us know when you’ve had enough
All the mud and grit, the stones and sticks, the punches and the kicks
Yeah we might spit out blood but we’re still standing
So try your best to do your worst, but
We were born for times when things get rough
Yeah we can take you down; we can chew you up
So let us know when you’ve had enough
Try your best to do your worst, but
We were born for times when things get rough
Yeah we can take you down; we can chew you up
So let us know when you’ve had enough
Try your best to do your worst, but
We were born for times when things get rough
Yeah we can take you down; we can chew you up
So let us know when you’ve had enough

Gone For Days

Well I believed in us; I really thought we had a chance
I couldn’t see the truth, caught up in the romance
But you came home one night and wouldn’t look me in the face
I tried to ask you why but you just said you needed space
So I just kinda waited, hoping we’d fall back in place
But I guess I’ve moved on, ‘cause you’ve been gone for days
And I haven’t thought about you, or been wishing that you stayed
And if you come back around, I know exactly what I’ll say
You missed your chance, now I’ve gone my own way
The next day you were gone, it was over; we were done and dusted
And all my friends were right: you should’ve never been trusted
What you did to me, I’d never do to you
And honestly you’re just not worth the pain you put me through
So go do what you want, and I’ll find someone new
Yeah I know it hurt for that moment when I said goodbye
But the sting doesn’t matter when it’s getting rid of all your lies
You locked me up but now I found the key
You trapped me in but now I’m breaking free
I don’t care what happens next because anything is better than you and me
Well I believe in us; I really thought we had a chance
I couldn't see the truth
And I guess I’ve moved on, ‘cause you’ve been gone for days
And I haven’t thought about you, or been wishing that you stayed
And if you come running back, I know exactly what I’ll say
You missed your chance, now I’ve gone my own way
Thought you were the one, I thought that you were rare
But you sat there for months, pretending like you cared
I guess I should have known that the feeling wasn't there
So I'm moving past this thing that's broken way beyond repair

Self-Counseling

Oh well there it goes, another night down the drain
Can't seem to stop yourself, the momentum’s like a train
You say that the perfect night is one you can’t remember
But even a hundred perfect nights will never make things better
All these nights just blur together but you keep wanting more
And every morning you wake up in worse shape than before
You sing about the poison but there’s no need to sink so low
‘Cause things will only turn around if you let this habit go
Whoa-oh! You’ve got better things to do
Whoa-oh! So don’t let it consume you
Life’s not worth the story if you stay home at night
But there can’t be a story if you can’t recall what to write
You say these days a cloudy haze helps you feel less alone
But even airplanes leave the clouds to make it safely home
Whoa-oh! You’ve got better things to do
Whoa-oh! So don’t let it consume you
Whoa-oh! You’re sinking way too low
Whoa-oh! You’ve gotta let this go
Whoa-oh! You’ve got better things to do
Whoa-oh! So don’t let it consume you
Whoa-oh! You’re sinking way too low
Whoa-oh! You’ve gotta let this go

(Don't) Defend Pop-Punk
03:08
|

Every single song in this scene just sounds the same
It’s all just whining about some girl who ran away
Maybe things ended badly but that’s okay
‘Cause if it had to end then things weren’t really ever that great
It’s not set in stone that every girl will break your heart
And if they do, take a look in the mirror and see that you played a part
It’s not fair to those with good intentions when you always blame someone else
So don’t defend pop-punk - if you can’t defend yourself
It seems so simple when it’s put into a song
It’s black and white; you’re right and she was wrong
But everyone makes mistakes and you’re just the same
So how can you justify letting someone else take all the blame?
It’s not set in stone that every girl will break your heart
And if they do, take a look in the mirror and see that you played a part
It’s not fair to those with good intentions when you always blame someone else
So don’t defend pop-punk - if you can’t defend yourself
I know a broken heart can feel like it’s never going to mend
But that doesn’t mean the next time it’s gonna break all over again
It’s up to us to see each other as more than just an easy cover
For our own mistakes and our gloomy weather; yeah it’s up to us, and we can do better
It’s not set in stone that every girl will break your heart
And if they do, take a look in the mirror and see that you played a part
It’s not fair to those with good intentions when you always blame someone else
So don’t defend pop-punk - if you can’t defend yourself

Electric

Tonight's not the first time that I've seen you around
But tonight's the first time my voice can make a sound at all
I know you've heard about me & my superhuman ability to turn
Passion into apathy, but now you're in my way
And I know I’ve made mistakes
But I’ve moved on from those days
So stay with me and I know we’ll be okay
So let’s run through these sleeping streets, through neighbourhoods down to the beach
And I’ll show you how you illuminate the night
Your eyes, they flash so perfectly; I wanna keep that spark right next to me
I’m addicted to your energy and light
Yeah you’re electric tonight
I can turn a spark into a flame, but it'll burn out by morning
And it always seems to end the same, it's my fault 'cause I give no warning
But when you walk in the room, all eyes are turned to you
And when yours meet mine, I know you feel that something more is possible too
And I know I’ve made mistakes
But I’ve moved on from those days
So stay with me and I know we’ll be okay
So let’s run through these sleeping streets, through neighbourhoods down to the beach
And I’ll show you how you illuminate the night
Your eyes, they flash so perfectly; I wanna keep that spark right next to me
I’m addicted to your energy and light
Yeah you’re electric
Don’t go now, ‘cause we’re just getting started
So stay tonight, and I’ll show you all the
Dark streets that light up when you’re with me
This night could last a lifetime
Don’t go now, ‘cause we’re just getting started
So stay tonight, and I’ll show you all the
Dark streets that light up when you’re with me
This night could last a lifetime
Don’t go now, ‘cause we’re just getting started
So stay tonight, and I’ll show you all the
Dark streets that light up when you’re with me
This night could last a lifetime
Don’t go now, ‘cause we’re just getting started
So stay tonight, and I’ll show you all the
Dark streets that light up when you’re with me
This night could last a lifetime
